Erich Joseph - Nature & Wildlife Photography

I am Erich Joseph,
nature & wildlife photographer.

“Photography isn’t about which light is Best, but knowing how to best use any light in different circumstances.”

My passion towards nature and wildlife started from a very young age. I grew up with a great resentment for animals, nature and traveling in a suburb area which was surrounded by paddy fields and rubber plantations.

As a child I was very compassionate and desired to care for the nature and animals, therefore I am so grateful for my childhood memories for becoming who I am today. My childhood has a great impact on me, to become a nature enthusiast with a great determination. I consider that spending my childhood in this charming village was the beginning of my photographic journey. After completing high school, I took the first step into the wildlife photography by studying towards the Diploma of Photography at Hegoda School of Photography by Lal Hegoda. With that knowledge and awareness gradually wildlife photography became my amusement and the hobby.

Even though I specialize in wildlife photography I have a career background in Accountancy and I currently am a professional SAP Functional consultant. I consider myself as a naturalist but not a conservationist and I wish to share the importance of protecting the nature for future generations.

My Skills

My personal view is that the wildlife photography is one of the hardest genres to master and can take years to accomplish for consistent results. This is a genre of photography which depicts elements of the natural world in a photographic process which can be broken down into speciality fields. Sri Lanka is a great place for wildlife photography where a photographer gets the opportunity to document various forms of wildlife in their natural habitat which requires outstanding photographic skills.

Nature & Landscape

I capture stunning landscapes for editorial or commercial purposes. I believe nature photography is the art of capturing pictures of nature and the outdoors in a way that brings the viewer into the scene. From grand landscapes to intimate details, the best photos demonstrate the photographer’s own connection to nature and capture the essence of the world around them.
